Carolan, McAllister to represent Rams at NCAA Outdoor Championships

| By:
MOUNT VERNON – Cornell first-year Hailey Carolan and senior Natalie McAllister will close their record-setting campaigns later this week at the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Rochester, N.Y.

Carolan is the Rams' first-ever female to qualify for outdoor nationals in the high jump. The Alburnett, Iowa, native competes at 5 p.m. Thursday at Polisseni Track and Field Complex.

McAllister, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, earned an NCAA berth in the heptathlon. The competition begins at 10 a.m. Thursday with the 100 hurdles, followed by the high jump, shot put and 200 on Day 1. Friday's events start at 10:30 a.m. with the long jump, and then the javelin and 800.

The top eight finishers earn all-America honors. Fans can follow live results throughout the three-day Championships.

Carolan is seeded 19th out of 22 entrants in the high jump. The Midwest Conference champion qualified with a school-record mark of 5 feet, 5.75 inches.

Carolan is among seven competitors who gained all-America status at NCAA indoors in March. She placed fourth, claiming Cornell's highest all-America finish in any event since 2017.

The high jump field features six 2022 outdoor all-Americans. Jaidyn Appel of Tufts enters with the top qualifying mark of 5-9.75. Tufts was the 2023 indoor champion.

McAllister is ranked 11th out of 22 competitors in the heptathlon. The eight-time MWC champion qualified with a mark of 4,621 points, achieved on April 21.

McAllister is Cornell's first heptathlete at the NCAAs since Libby Schnoor went consecutive years in 2017-18. Schnoor placed fourth in 2017 with 4,661 points, a school record McAllister could threaten this week.

The heptathlon includes nine returning qualifiers from 2022, highlighted by four all-Americans. Loras' Grace Alley, who took sixth last year, is the No. 1 seed with 5,163 points.

McAllister competed in the 60 hurdles at NCAA indoors, finishing 13th.
