Cornell fields 11 placewinners at UW-Platteville Invite

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Cornell's wrestling team fielded 11 placewinners and three consolation champions at Saturday's UW-Platteville Invitational.
 
The Rams had three individuals take third in their respective brackets with Cristian Dixon (3-1 at 149 pounds, Jacob Sherzer (3-1 at 174) and Zachary Finn (2-1 at 285).
 
Dixon scored a major decision and technical fall before earning a 3-1 sudden victory over Loras' Traevin Osborn in his third-place bout.
 
Sherzer pinned Dubuque's Andrew Shaffer in 6:56 for third. Sherzer's lone loss was a 10-4 semifinal decision to eighth-ranked and eventual champion Ben Sarasin of Chicago.
 
Finn edged Loras' Dakoda Powell, 3-2, in his third-place match. Finn lost by fall to Loras' second-ranked Wyatt Wreidt in the semis.
 
The Rams received fourth-place finishes from Evan Husko (1-2 at 133) and Spencer Roth (3-2 at 165). Reilly Dolan (3-1 at 141) and Killian Perrigon (3-1 at 157) both took fifth.
 
Cornell had four individuals place sixth in Nathan Bednarczyk (1-2 at 125), Landon Card (2-2 at 149), Dahson DeJong (1-2 at 174) and Cael McLaren (2-2 at 184).
 
Cornell landed consolation champions at 141 (Grant Harbour), 157 (Curtis Green-Saunders) and 184 (Colin Honderd).
 
The Rams (1-0) head back to UW-Platteville Thursday for a 7 p.m. dual meet.
