CEDAR RAPIDS – Cornell's women's basketball team continued its roll with a strong defensive effort Wednesday night to defeat rival Coe, 55-45, inside Kohawk Arena.
The Rams (7-3) notched their sixth win in the last seven games and avenged a 64-60 early-season loss to the Kohawks (4-6).
Cornell led for all but four minutes of this rematch, holding the Kohawks to 26.8-percent shooting for the game. The Rams broke open a 21-19 halftime lead with a 34-point second half.
The Rams were hot from the foul line, hitting 12-of-13 free throws. Cornell sank all eight of its foul shots in the fourth quarter to seal the road win.

Madison Wauters combined to sink 9-of-9 free throws and shared team-high honors with 12 points apiece.
Madison Osborn pitched in 10 points.
Ani'ja Simmons led the Rams on the boards with nine rebounds.
Rachael Adewusi had seven rebounds, seven points and two blocked shots. Wauters added five rebounds.
Cornell owned a decisive 21-5 advantage in bench points and outscored the Kohawks in the paint, 24-10.
The Rams conclude their pre-Christmas schedule with a 3 p.m. home game Friday against Principia inside the Small Sport Center.
