DAVENPORT – Cornell's
Emmaline Fievet claimed her third consecutive singles win, although St. Ambrose took the rest of Saturday's matches in a 6-1 women's tennis victory over the Rams at Davenport West High School.
Fievet remained tough atop the Rams' singles lineup, boosting her season record to 3-1. The senior rallied in three sets for a 2-6, 7-5, 10-7 win over Kiersten Housenga at the No. 1 position.
The Rams (1-3 overall) finished on the short end of two other three-setters. At No. 6 singles, Cornell's
Regina Bermudez-Smith lost a 2-6, 7-6 (4), 12-10 battle. St. Ambrose took a 6-0, 1-6, 10-6 decision over
Josalin McKeever at No. 5.

Ashley Mink fell 6-4, 7-5. Cornell's
Makayla Johnson (6-3, 6-1) and
Amanda Dragon (6-4, 6-1) lost in straight sets.
The Fighting Bees (1-2) swept doubles play, winning 6-2 at both No. 1 and No. 3. They won 6-0 at No. 2.
One total point was awarded for the doubles matches, per NAIA rules.
The Rams begin Midwest Conference play with a home double dual next Saturday, Sept. 18. Cornell faces Lawrence at 9 a.m. and Ripon at 3 p.m.
