MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's women's soccer team took a 1-0 lead into halftime but couldn't hold on and fell 2-1 to the Clarke Pride Wednesday evening.
The Rams started the game well and were rewarded with a goal when
Maddalin Doran hit a sweet shot from the top of the box into the top right corner of the net.
Sam O'Brien found Doran with a nice pass after a small scramble for the ball.
Cornell held out until the 70-minute mark when Clarke evened the score. The Pride then found the winning goal just four minutes later.
Elise Thomason-Larsen made four saves in the match for the Rams, with three coming in the second half.
Clarke attempted 13 shots to Cornell's six. O'Brien and Doran led the Rams attack with three and two shots between them.
Sydney Hancox also attempted a shot.
Monday's postponed match against Iowa Wesleyan will be played at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Mount Vernon.
