Cornell drops nonconference meet to Duhawks

Box Score DUBUQUE – The short-handed Rams traveled to Loras Wednesday and dropped a 9-0 women's tennis meet in nonconference play.
 
Cornell's Emmaline Fievet continued her strong play atop the lineup, taking Lauren Diiulio to three sets in a 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 loss at No. 1 singles.
 
Makayla Johnson (6-0, 6-1), Ashley Mink (6-2, 6-1) and Amanda Dragon (6-4, 6-1) all came up short in their respective singles matches.
 
Fievet and Dragon lost a tight 8-6 match at No. 1 doubles. Cornell's No. 2 duo of Mink and Johnson fell 8-2.
 
Loras (1-3) received three team points for default wins at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 and 6 singles.
 
The Rams (2-6 overall) play host to Dubuque at 4 p.m. Friday. The Spartans edged Cornell, 5-4, in a neutral-site dual on Aug. 28.
