MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's women's soccer team used another strong second half to notch comfortable 4-0 win over Maranatha Baptist Friday evening.
The Rams found the opening goal at the 11-minute mark of the match after
Amelia Brown played a nice ball to
Elissafe Moreno who converted her short-range effort.
Just like last match, Cornell did most of the damage in the second half to pull away from the Sabercats (1-3-1).
Sydney Hancox scored the second goal 12 minutes into the second half, dribbling past a few defenders before beating the goalkeeper. She scored her second of the match 14 minutes later.
Elise Hermiston assisted on the goal.
The final goal was scored by Brown. She received the ball on the left side of the box from
Emma Rowe and powered her shot into the top right corner of the net.
The Rams (4-5) attempted a whopping 43 shots during the match. All 17 field players that saw action in the match recorded at least one shot. Hancox and Moreno led the charge with six each.
Elise Hermiston recorded five shots, and
Gabriella Garcia had four attempts off the bench.
Cornell used three goalkeepers in the contest. None of which were forced to make a save.
Elise Thomason-Larsen played the first 67 minutes of the game. Freshman
Eva Todd notched 13 minutes in net, and
Kara Rivard finished the final 10 minutes of action between the posts.
The Rams defense did not allow the Sabercats to record a shot during the match.
