MOUNT VERNON – The wrestling fans barely had time to get settled in their seats before Cornell finished a 49-6 thumping of Iowa Wesleyan Friday night inside the Small Sport Center.

The Rams (6-2) recorded bonus points in eight matches – six of them via first-period pins – in a brisk 49-minute dual meet that was one-sided from the opening whistle.

Only one of Cornell's nine individual wins went the entire seven minutes. The dominant performance saw the Rams outscore the Tigers (2-2) in near-fall points, 22-0. Cornell registered 21 takedowns and gave up none.

Iowa Wesleyan's lone points came by forfeit in the initial match at 125 pounds.

Cornell junior 133-pounder
Evan Husko (23-12) set the tone for the night, tallying six takedowns against Ty Broussard in an 18-3 technical fall that was terminated in 5:58.

At 141, senior
Keegan Schultschik (13-11) decked Will Weidman in 1:14, and freshman 149-pounder
Landon Card (21-16) followed suit with a fall over Francisco Mendez in 1:40, putting the Rams ahead 17-6.

Cornell's 14th-ranked
Killian Perrigon (22-9) handled Brent Ward at 157, posting 10 near-fall points for a 21-4 technical fall in 5:38.

The Rams won the next four bouts all by pin, started with 13th-ranked
Casey Allen's fall in 1:10 over Jesus Diaz. It was the 15th pin of the season for Allen, who improved to 24-6 on the season.

Senior 174-pounder
Jacob Sherzer (17-11) put Caelen Shannon to his back in 1:19. At 184,
Colin Honderd (25-9) recorded his team-high 18th pin of the season with a fall in 2:25 over Dom Morris.

Sophomore
Treyten Steffen (17-15) earned the quickest pin of the night at 197, needing only 1:09 to flatten Elias Cordero.

Heavyweight
Drake Fox (17-12) capped the impressive team showing with a 2-0 decision over Wyatt Nelson.

The Rams compete at the Pete Wilson Invitational Jan. 28-29 in Wheaton, Ill. They'll send a split squad to the Loras Open Jan. 29 in Dubuque.
