MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's women's basketball team ran virtually even with one-loss UW-Stout for a half in Friday's 64-46 nonconference setback inside the Small Athletic and Wellness Center.

Madison Wauters notched her fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to guide the Rams (5-6) in their final action of 2022.
The Rams had it going early, getting 3-pointers from
Megan Gandrup and
Madison Osborn on their first two possessions. Cornell added two more treys in the opening quarter and led 16-13 against a talented Blue Devils squad (9-1) after 10 minutes.
UW-Stout held a narrow 31-28 lead at halftime, and then outscored the Rams 33-18 in the second half.
Cornell limited the Blue Devils to 36.8-percent shooting from the field. UW-Stout, however, sank all 16 of its free throw attempts and owned a 38-29 advantage on the boards.
Gandrup had eight points and four assists.
Kali March led all players with six assists. Osborn pitched in seven points.
The Rams led for more than 16 minutes of the contest.
Raegan Sorensen came off the bench to pace UW-Stout with 19 points and six rebounds.
Coming up – The Midwest Conference's first-place Rams (4-0 MWC) are off from competition until Jan. 7, when they play host to league foe Lake Forest (1-5 overall, 1-3 MWC) at 1 p.m.
