ORLANDO, Fla. – Cornell's men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 dual meet to Calvin University Saturday to open play on its spring break trip in Florida.
The Knights took an early 2-0 lead, winning 8-0 at No. 3 doubles and 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Sophomores
Alexander Hadler-Strumlauf and
Federico Polidori teamed up to win 8-3 at No. 1 doubles to get the Rams on the board heading into singles.
Hadler-Strumlauf (6-4, 6-1 at No. 1), and Polidori (6-2, 6-1 at No. 2) picked up a pair of singles wins for Cornell. Calvin swept the remaining singles matches in straight sets.
Chris Penas-Hull came up short in a hard fought match, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4.
The Rams (4-5) continue spring break action at 10 a.m. Sunday against Immaculata University.
