RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Cornell fired 13 second-half shots, although couldn't break through UW-River Falls' defense in Sunday's 2-0 women's soccer loss at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
The Rams (1-8-1) came up short in a statistically-even match against another tough nonconference opponent. UW-River Falls remained undefeated at 8-0-2.
Cornell's attack generated several scoring chances, attempting 15 total shots and six on goal.
Sanne Croes accounted for six shots. She and
Sydney Hancox both had two shots on goal.
UW-River Falls gained control early with a score in the third minute of regulation. The Falcons were aided by a penalty kick goal in the 64th minute, pushing the lead to 2-0.
Freshman goalkeeper
Sabrina Ibanez notched five saves in a complete-game effort. She faced 15 shots from the home team.
