MOUNT VERNON – Edgewood rallied for two second-half goals to upend Cornell, 2-0, in the Rams' women's soccer home opener Sunday afternoon.
Freshman goalkeeper
Sabrina Ibanez and the Cornell defense held the visitors scoreless until the 52-minute mark. Edgewood added an insurance goal with 16 minutes remaining for the final margin.
Ibanez allowed one goal and recorded three saves in 56 minutes of action.
Krystin Kamrath finished the match at keeper and also collected three saves.
The Rams (0-2) hung close despite being outshot by a 19-4 count. Edgewood (1-1) attempted nine corner kicks, to Cornell's one.
Sanne Croes led Cornell's attack with two shots. She and
Elissafe Moreno each attempted one shot on goal.
