GRINNELL - The Rams faced off against the Pioneers of Grinnell Tuesday night, dropping a 56-44 Midwest Conference decision inside Darby Gymnasium.
Madison Wauters led the charge for the Rams (8-10 overall, 7-4 MWC) with her seventh double-double of the year, securing 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Wauters had eight of her 16 points by intermission, shooting 4-from-7 from the field as the Rams trailed 24-18 at the half.
With tough defense, the Rams held Grinnell (8-11 overall, 4-7 MWC) scoreless for the first two minutes in the second half which allowed them to go on an 11-2 run to take the lead, 31-29, a little more than halfway into the third quarter.
The Rams couldn't hold on as a run by the Pioneers spelled the end for the Rams. The teams wound up splitting the season series.
Erin Lillis led the Pioneers with 14 points and Nikki Ware joined her with 13 points.
Coming up - The Rams will be home taking on Knox for Senior Day on Feb. 4 at 1 pm while honoring three graduating seniors.
