Treyten Steffen were two-time winners Saturday as Cornell's wrestling team went 1-1 at the Pointer Duals.
The Rams won eight contested bouts in a convincing 34-7 victory over UW-Stevens Point. Cornell fell 23-12 to Luther in the final dual of the day.
Cornell (3-5) handled the host Pointers with seven bonus-point wins, including the eighth pin of the season from sophomore heavyweight
Jackson Brinker, who decked his opponent in 3:14.
Card earned a 17-2 technical fall, while Cornell's 125-pounder
Jayden Rael upset sixth-ranked Luca Paladino by a 10-4 margin. Rael improved to 10-1 on the season.
The Rams received major decisions from Sneed (14-3 at 133),
AJ Parrish (9-0 at 141),
Gabriel Smith (21-8 at 157), Petry (16-3 at 174) and 17th-ranked Steffen (17-4 at 197).
Cornell won four of the 10 bouts with Luther (1-1), which secured bonus points in three matches.
Sneed (5-4 at 133), Card (13-9 at 149), Petry (4-2 at 174) and Steffen (5-2 at 197) all claimed tight decisions for Cornell's match wins. Petry (12-7) posted his team-high 12th win of the season.
