Miranda Keith each homered in the Ram's 12-4 and 8-3 sweep over Monmouth at Van Metre Family Softball Field on Saturday for Cornell's first multi-homerun game of the year.
The Rams (13-19, 8-6 MWC) are in pretty good shape after their wins over Monmouth (13-23, 5-9 MWC) they are currently standing strong in fourth place as they only have one doubleheader left against Knox to finish the regular season.
Puck's inside-the-park solo homerun led off Game 1 as it sparked a five-run first inning to put the Rams up 5-3 over the Scots. Keith's homerun came in the bottom of the third inning with two outs and two on to cap the seven-run inning.
In Game 1, five different Rams had multi-hit games as the team racked up five extra-base hits. Puck finished Game 1 going 2-of-3 with two runs and two RBIs as Keith went 1-of-3 with one run and three RBIs.
Peyton Souhrada,
Claire Gugerty, and
Monet Roelle each went 2-of-3 with a run scored and a double in game 1. Souhrada and Gugerty each hit doubles in Game 2 as Souhrada moves to 12 doubles on the year with her fourth in six games.
A six-run fifth inning allowed the Rams to take Game 2 behind seven straight hits, one double, and six singles, to leave the Scots stammering for an answer. The Rams compiled 14 hits with five players having multi-hit games as Keith and
Addie Bowman each had a game-high three hits.
Alyssa Pearson pitched both games in completion for a total of 12.0 innings facing 59 batters, grabbing the wins as she moves to 5-10 on the year.
