Volleyball claims Academic Team Award for 11th consecutive year

| By:
MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's volleyball program has been recognized for academic excellence by the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for the 11th consecutive season.

The Rams earned the USMC/AVCA Academic Team Award for the 2022-23 academic year, gaining the honor for the 18th time in head coach Jeff Meeker's 21 seasons at the helm.

The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintained a year-long grade point average of 3.30. A total 1,332 collegiate and high school volleyball teams achieved the feat.

Cornell's team accumulated a 3.51 GPA.

"The commitment our coaches make to help their student-athletes pursue the best versions of themselves is evident in the academic accomplishments highlighted today," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "Achievement on the court has always been closely tied to success in the classroom, which is reflected by the number of championship programs honored."

The 2022 Rams enjoyed another championship campaign on the court, claiming their 10th consecutive Midwest Conference regular-season title. The team captured the MWC Tournament crown and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time since 2011.

Cornell finished the season 22-8 overall, 8-0 in the MWC.
