MOUNT VERNON – The Cornell men's soccer team handled the Cougars of Minnesota-Morris a 2-1 win on Saturday in their home opener at the Cornell Soccer Field.
With a suffocating defense, the Rams held the Cougars scoreless through one half. The Rams allowed eight shots total with only 2 being on goal while drawing 12 fouls.
The Rams took advantage of their opportunities and scored twice in the first half on freshman
Sam Burmeister's goal at the 25-minute mark off a penalty shot and junior
Gaurab Khadka came off the bench and scored at the 40-mark.
Burmeister has scored a goal in back-to-back games for the Rams to lead the team.
Sophomore
Floris Huiskers, in 90 minutes, allowed only one goal while collecting one save. He faced eight shots with two on goal.
Coming up – The Rams will face the Knights of Wartburg tomorrow at home for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff.
