RIPON, Wis. – Cornell's volleyball team began its quest for a 12th consecutive Midwest Conference championship Saturday afternoon with a dominant 25-12, 25-18, 25-10 victory over Ripon at Weiske Gymnasium.
The Rams (8-11 overall, 1-0 MWC) posted a season-best .386 attack percentage and rolled to their 25th consecutive MWC regular-season win.
Ilah Perez-Johnson became the second player in program history to reach 1,400 career kills. The fifth-year outside hitter accumulated 16 more on only 27 swings against the Red Hawks (7-12 overall, 0-4 MWC) and passed Laura Dudgeon (2006-09) and Diamond Boyd (2014-17) for No. 2 on Cornell's all-time kills chart with 1,407.
Perez-Johnson also accounted for three of Cornell's seven ace serves, raising her career total to 197, good for No. 2 all-time by a Ram.
First-year
Ally Olmstead enjoyed a terrific .538 hitting match with eight kills on just 13 attempts. She also provided six blocks.
Mia Tubbs and
Kiana Manson added six and five kills, respectively.
Setter
Clare Green handed out 24 assists and scooped seven digs.
Ella Becker had a team-high eight digs and went 14-of-14 from the service line.
The Rams more than doubled Ripon in kills (42-20) in a quick match that lasted only 62 minutes. The Red Hawks were held to .043 hitting.
