BELOIT, Wis. – All 17 Rams saw court time Wednesday night as Cornell's volleyball team blew away Beloit by scores of 25-9, 25-12 and 25-13 in a brisk 60-minute sweep at Flood Arena.
The Rams climbed back to the .500 mark at 11-11 and remained unbeaten in the Midwest Conference at 4-0. Cornell is tied with Grinnell atop the league standings at the halfway point of the conference season.
Winners of seven of their last eight matches, the Rams set the tone early with a 9-1 run to start the night. Cornell gave up the initial point in Set 2 and didn't trail again the rest of the match.
The Rams accumulated 38 kills with a sizzling .380 attack percentage. Beloit mustered just 14 kills and hit minus-.055.
Cornell connected on a season-high 14 ace serves, seven coming from
Ilah Perez-Johnson who also led the team with 11 kills and six digs.
Carly Puffer hit .538 with eight kills and also had three aces.
Mia Tubbs and
Ally Olmstead pitched in five kills apiece.
Clare Green and
Nia Howard combined for 25 assists.
Coming up – The Rams host the Cornell Quadrangular Saturday at the Small Athletic and Wellness Center. Cornell has matches against North Park at 11:30 a.m. and Carthage at 4:30 p.m.
Saturday's other two matches are Coe vs. North Park at 9 a.m. and Coe vs. Carthage at 2 p.m.
