Box Score 2 MOUNT VERNON – The Cornell College women's tennis team took on the Saint Ambrose Bees (3-4) and Grinnell Pioneers (5-0, 3-0 MWC) at its home courts Sunday. Grinnell took a 6-1 Midwest Conference victory before the Rams bounced back in the afternoon, winning 5-2 against the Bees.
In the morning, Grinnell secured the doubles point. Sophomores

Mac Graves fell in a back-and-forth match 6-4. Freshmen

Audrey Small and sophomore
Isabella Wallin fell 6-0. In singles,
Tansy Graves fell in a close 6-1, 7-6(5) match, with Small falling in similar fashion, 6-3, 6-4. Flynn lost 6-0, 6-1, Benkufsky 6-0, 6-0 and Wallin 6-0, 6-0.
Mac Graves claimed the lone point for the Rams. She led 4-2 before receiving an injury retirement.
In the afternoon, the Rams (5-2 overall, 2-1 MWC) faced the Bees, starting the match with the doubles point and a sweep across all three doubles. The Graves sisters rolled 6-0. Benkufsky and Flynn earned a 6-4 decision while Small and Wallin won by the same 6-4 margin.
Mac Graves and Small both completed their singles matches with 6-1, 6-0 wins, and Benkufsky clinched the dual for the Rams by scores of 6-2, 6-4.
Wallin fell 6-0, 6-0 and
Tansy Graves fell in a close match 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
Flynn battled for a third set triumph 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 to close out the day for Cornell.
Coming up – The Rams travel next Saturday, Oct.5, to play MWC opponents Ripon and Lawrence in Wisconsin.
