CARLINVILLE, Ill. – Cornell's men's soccer team kept another clean sheet in Thursday's 2-0 nonconference victory over Blackburn at Blackburn Stadium.
The second road shutout in six days moved coach
Nate Grosse's Rams to 2-0 on the young season.
Fifth-year goalkeeper
Jeremy Spina worked all 90 minutes in net and delivered three saves. The Rams yielded only eight total shots by the Battlin' Beavers (0-1-2).
After a scoreless first half, senior
Aidan Lerch put the Rams on the board with an assisted goal from freshman
Justice Toledo in the 47th minute.
George Archer provided insurance at the 64-minute mark, scoring off an assist from freshman
Jake Elmore. It was Archer's third goal of the season and Elmore's first collegiate point.
The Rams attempted 14 shots in the match, four by Archer and three by
Sam Burmeister.
