APPLETON, Wis. – Cornell's volleyball team began its hunt for a 13th consecutive Midwest Conference title Friday evening with a 24-26, 25-23, 25-20, 25-13 victory over Lawrence at Alexander Gymnasium.

The 2025 MWC preseason favorite, Cornell (8-7, 1-0 MWC) recorded its 33rd consecutive MWC regular-season victory and beat the Vikings (14-6, 0-1 MWC) for the 14th time in a row.

After splitting the first two tightly-contested sets, the Rams led 17-15 in the pivotal third set when junior Kensie Staats orchestrated a 6-0 service run. Staats delivered four consecutive aces during that stretch and finished with a career-high five aces on the night.

The Rams hit a red-hot .400 in the fourth set to take the match.

Sophomore Ally Olmstead slammed 14 kills on a blistering .400 hitting percentage. Mia Tubbs chipped in seven kills and four blocks.

First-years Grace Tverberg (19 assists, 5 kills) and Selia Stein (7 blocks) established new season-highs in helping the Rams to the road win.

Ella Becker led Cornell with 16 digs. Hannah Cantwell scooped 12 digs.

Cornell served nine aces, including three by Nia Howard.

Up next – The Rams conclude their weekend Wisconsin trip at Ripon (7-12, 1-0 MWC) Saturday. First serve is 1 p.m.
