MOUNT VERNON – The Rams took the field Tuesday afternoon fired up to face Midwest Conference unbeaten Grinnell. In a highly competitive game between two well coached teams, the Rams came away with the 2-1 victory at Cornell Soccer Field.
Cornell (4-7 overall, 2-1 MWC) found the net first on a penalty kick goal by sophomore
Justice Toledo at the 13:30 mark of the first half.
Grinnell (4-6-3 overall, 3-1 MWC) tied up the game at the start of the second half on an unassisted corner kick goal by Samuel Gojjam. Grinnell held a 14-0 corner kick advantage over the Rams.
With just over two minutes left in the game junior
Mason Parsley fired a shot from the top of the goal box. The ball careened off the back of Toledo's head into the bottom right corner of the goal, to seal the victory. Toledo was credited with the game winning goal and Parsley picked up the assist.
Both teams finished with seven shots on goal. Toledo had three shots on goal for the Rams.

Jack Massey played the complete game in the net, picking up six saves.
Coming up – The Rams travel to Jacksonville, Ill. Saturday to take on Illinois College (6-3-3 overall, 1-2-1 MWC) in conference action. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
