Meeker tabbed First Team All-MWC; Hurley named to Second Team

MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's Jayden Meeker and Dylan Hurley have been recognized on the 2024-25 All-Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Teams, as announced Thursday by the MWC office.

Meeker, a 6-foot-4 senior guard, was tabbed to the All-MWC First Team for the second year in a row. He earned second team honors in 2023, making him Cornell's first three-time all-conference performer since Corey Davis (2016-18).

Hurley, a 6-foot-3 fifth-year forward, landed on the All-MWC Second Team. This is the fourth consecutive season Cornell has claimed multiple all-conference selections under head coach Dave Schlabaugh.

Meeker was the league's most versatile player, ranking No. 3 in the MWC in rebounds (7.8 rpg) and assist/turnover ratio (+2.1 pg), No. 4 in field goal percentage (48.3), No. 5 in assists (3.7 apg) and minutes played (33.6 mpg), No. 6 in steals (1.6 spg), No. 7 in points (17.3 ppg) and No. 9 in free throw percentage (71.9).

Meeker notched seven double-doubles (points-rebounds) this season, all coming over the final two months against MWC competition. The high-flying three-year starter reached the 20-point mark in 11 games, highlighted by a 30-point effort at Knox Jan. 22.

Meeker concluded an outstanding career with 1,313 points, standing No. 10 on Cornell's all-time list. He also finished in the Top 10 for career assists (244, 10th), steals (124, ninth), blocked shots (59, sixth), field goals made (466, 10th), free throws made (319, seventh) and free throws attempted (447, fifth). Meeker played 100 games for the Rams.

Hurley thrived in a point-forward role in his second season on the Hilltop. The two-year starter handed out an MWC-best 6.0 assists per game, which rank No. 7 nationally this season in Division III. Hurley's 139 assists are the third-highest season total ever by a Ram.

Hurley shot 56.5 percent from the field and ranked No. 7 in the MWC with 6.5 rebounds per game. He netted a career-high 27 points against MWC Tournament qualifier Lake Forest Jan. 11 and dished a career-best 12 assists in his final collegiate game Feb. 22 against Knox.

Meeker and Hurley guided the Rams to a 15-10 overall finish. Cornell tied for fifth in the league race at 9-7.

MWC regular-season champion Monmouth landed the Player and Newcomer of the Year (Zay Brown) and Coach of the Year (Todd Skrivseth).
