MELBOURNE, Fla. – Cornell's softball team dropped its final three games at the Space Coast Spring Games, following Friday's 6-3 loss to NAIA's Lawrence Tech.
The Rams fell short in Thursday's games against NAIA's Indiana Tech, 6-0, and American Rivers Conference foe Nebraska Wesleyan, 12-3 in five innings.
Cornell finished 1-4 during its stay in the Sunshine State and moved to 3-4 overall.
Elise Oleson went 2-for-4 to lead Cornell's seven-hit attack against Lawrence Tech (6-5). RBIs from
Miranda Keith and
Linnea Drever brought the Rams within 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, although the rally ended with the bases loaded.
Lawrence Tech added two insurance runs in the seventh and retired Cornell's lineup in order in the bottom of the frame.
Cornell's
Daelynn Rhoades (0-1) pitched all seven innings and yielded nine hits.
Peyton Souhrada tripled and scored a run for the Rams.
Souhrada accounted for Cornell's only hit against Indiana Tech (9-6). Sophomore
Lexi Ellermeier pitched a strong game for the Rams, allowing three hits and just two earned runs over six innings.
Three Cornell pitchers surrendered 16 hits to an impressive Nebraska Wesleyan squad (10-2), which broke open a 1-1 game with 11 runs in the final three innings.
Oleson doubled and drove in a run. The Rams also received RBIs from
Alexa Corona and
Charlotte Alexander.
Coming up – Cornell plays host to A-R-C foe Luther (5-5) Tuesday for a 4 p.m. doubleheader at Van Metre Family Softball Field.
