MOUNT VERNON, IA - Returning back to their home courts, the Cornell men's tennis team continued their spring campaign, dropping a nail biter dual match 4-3 to visiting University of Northwestern Eagles Friday afternoon. 

Cornell not only battled on the court, but also battled cancer in their annual cancer awareness match. A tradition that started in 2024, the Cornell tennis programs dedicate a match each season to people all over the world who are fighting cancer, and honor those family members and friends close to the programs who are fighting. 

On the doubles court, the Rams (10-6) fell by a 6-4 score at all three spots surrendering the doubles point. 

Facing a 0-3 deficit, the Rams rallied back in singles to win three of the six remaining matches. Junior Zachary Ong, freshman Drew Campbell, and senior Edwin Holyoake, all closed out tight third set super tiebreak matches, each claiming a 10-8 breaker win at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles respectively. 

Sam Cumicek dropped a close 7-5, 3-6, 10-8 decision at No. 6 in what would be the deciding match. 

Coming up - The Rams host Bethany Lutheran College next Friday, March 28th. First serve is set for 4pm.
