Truman State slips past Cornell, 4-3

MOUNT VERNON- The Cornell women's tennis team fell in a tightly contested 4-3 loss to Division II Truman State University Bulldogs, this Saturday afternoon at home.
 
The Rams (15-6) started with a deficit in doubles, with sophomores Mac Graves and Tansy Graves losing 7-5 at No. 1, and sophomore Isabella Wallin and junior Audrey Small falling 6-1 at No. 3. Freshmen Jenna Benkufsky and Alyssa Flynn fell in tiebreak 7-6 (5).
 
The Rams closed the gap in singles with wins from Mac Graves, Small, and Benkufsky at No. 2, 3, and 5, respectively. Graves took a close match 7-5, 7-6 (2), Small won in straights, 6-2, 6-4, and Benkufsky closed out a 6-1, 6-1 match. Flynn and Wallin fell in straight sets at No. 4, and 6. Tansy Graves fell at No. 1 in tiebreak 4-6, 6-0, 14-12.
 
Coming up- The Rams will play next week on April 6, at home against Wartburg and UW-Stevens Point.
