MADISON, WI. – First-year Sam Cumicek paced the Rams with a runner-up finish in singles at the MWC Individual Championships at Nielsen Tennis Stadium on the campus of University of Wisconsin-Madison. Cumicek is the fifth entry for the Rams to reach the finals in the past four years. 

Cumicek, playing at No. 6 singles, defeated Ryan Richter of Ripon (6-1, 6-0) and Ian Villardi of Lake Forest (Injury default) on his way to the championship match. Alex Doane of Grinnell prevailed in the finals, winning 6-2, 6-1. 

Cornell fielded semifinalists in the remaining singles brackets with Trent Devore at No. 1, Zachary Ong at No. 2, Drew Campbell at No. 3, Mills Arnold at No. 4, and Edwin Holyoake at No. 5 all winning their first round matches before falling in the semi-final round. 

The Rams also fielded two doubles semi-final pairs in Devore/Arnold at No. 1, and Ong/Cumicek at No. 2. August Krahn and Campbell were consolation champions at No. 3 doubles with a win over Ripon in their final match of the weekend. 
 
Arnold concluded the year with a team best 35 wins, and partnered with Devore for a team best 18-8 of all doubles duos. Ong posted 28 victories on the year, bringing his career win total to 92, tied ninth all time in the record books. 

The Rams finished the dual season 16-9 overall.
