MOUNT VERNON - Cornell's women's tennis team wrapped up their final home matches of the 2024-2025 season on Sunday. The Rams fell in a down to the wire match against Wartburg 4-3 in the morning, and bounced back for a strong 6-1 win over the University of Wisconsin Stevens-Point.
The Rams (16-7) dropped the doubles point to start the day of matches. No. 1 duo of
Mac Graves and
Tansy Graves scored the lone doubles match for the Rams, winning 6-3.
Three singles matches went the distance to third set super tiebreakers.
Tansy Graves at No. 1 and
Audrey Small at No. 3 both prevailed 11-9 in their tiebreakers.
Alyssa Flynn dropped a tough match 10-5 in her tiebreaker set at No. 4.
Mac Graves won in straight sets at No. 2 for the Rams final point.
Moving outside to face the Pointers, Cornell grabbed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 by the Graves sisters, 6-1, as well as No. 3 duo of Small and
Isabella Wallin, 6-3.
Four Rams won their singles matches in straight sets,
Mac Graves, Small, Flynn and
Jenna Benkufsky at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 respectively.
Tansy Graves at No. 1 blanked her opponent in the third set tiebreaker 10-0 for her second singles win of the day that went the distance.
The Graves sisters enjoyed 4-0 days individually, while Small finished 3-1.
Mac Graves and
Audrey Small entered the top 15 all time in program history for career singles wins, at 46 each, tied for 12th. Graves also moves into second all time on the single season singles wins list at 26, one behind Gabriella Ferro who set the mark at 27 in 2015.
