Box Score MIDDLETON, Wis. – Third-seeded Cornell dropped a 4-1 decision to Lake Forest Saturday afternoon in the semifinal of the Midwest Conference Women's Tennis Team Tournament at Hitters Sports Plex.
The Rams, making their seventh postseason appearance in the past nine years, concluded the 2024-2025 dual season with a 18-9 record.
Cornell's No. 2 pair of
Mac Graves/Jenna Benkufksy secured the doubles win 6-1. No. 1 tandem of
Audrey Small/
Alyssa Flynn battled to a tough 6-4 decision to the Foresters. At No. 3, the duo of
Tansy Graves/
Isabella Wallin fell 7-6(4).
In the four completed singles matches,
Mac Graves continued her stellar play this spring and took out MWC Newcomer of the Year in Lilli Dockal, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2. Graves has now tied the single season doubles win record at 24, also held by Emily Loewen (2006-2007), Pavla Brachova (2008-2009) and Lindsey Pfalmer (2002-2003). She finished this season with an overall record of 54-12.
Tansy Graves at No. 1, Small at No. 3, and
Ashley Drake at No. 5 fell in their respective matches. Flynn and Benkufsky's matches were abandoned due to the match being clinched by the Foresters.
Top-seeded Grinnell defeated Lake Forest 4-1 in the championship match, earning the automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
