Addie Bowman collected her 100th career hit in her final at-bat as a Ram in Sunday's season-ending 18-1 setback to 21st-ranked Simpson at Van Metre Family Softball Field.
Cornell had its five-game winning streak snapped against the co-champions of the American Rivers Conference. The Rams finished the campaign at 16-20, while Simpson improved to 31-6.
Bowman achieved her milestone with a first-pitch single into left field to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning. She came around to score on a single by
Corrin Kennedy for Cornell's lone run of the contest.
Bowman notched the 100th hit in her 132nd career game with the Rams. She finished her final season with a .383 batting average.
Simpson took control of the game early, accounting for 13 of its 18 total hits over the first three innings in building a 13-0 lead.
The Rams received one single each from Bowman, Kennedy,
Lilly Dierkes and
Peyton Souhrada.
Souhrada, a junior, climbed to No. 9 on Cornell's career hits list with 125.
