DUBUQUE – Cornell's men's cross country team opened the season Friday with a fifth-place showing at Loras' Bob Schultz Invitational, held at Dubuque Soccer Complex.
Cornell's young lineup totaled 125 points in the nine-team field, led by a top-20 effort from sophomore
Isaac Morris. Morris covered the 5K course in 16:23, crossing 17th out of 99 competitors.
Freshman
Carson Krogman placed 28th in his first collegiate meet with a time of 16:44.
Jaxon Barnes (17:16) and freshman
Caden Edwards (17:17) came in 41st and 42nd, respectively. Junior
Grant Anderson carded Cornell's fifth score in 48th place (17:34).
Jamie Briggs finished 49th (17:35) and
Caleb Long took 54th (17:46) for the Rams, who had 14 total runners compete in the meet.
No. 29 nationally-ranked Loras posted a winning team score of 20 points. The Duhawks also claimed the individual champion in Isaac Bourne (14:56).
Coming up – The Rams are back in action Sept. 13 at the Les Duke Invitational in Grinnell.
