DUBUQUE – It took Cornell's volleyball team one set to get going Wednesday night before the Rams charged past Loras for a 16-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-17 road win at Lillis Athletic and Wellness Center.
The Rams hit at a season-best .229-percent clip and came away with their first series win in Dubuque since 2018. Cornell moved to 5-7 on the season, while the Duhawks dropped to 4-9.
Cornell found its offensive rhythm with five players recording at least seven kills, led by sophomore
Mia Tubbs' match-high 12.
Ally Olmstead enjoyed a hot .450 hitting night with 10 kills on 20 swings.
Ashlin Nottestad blasted nine kills,
Selia Stein eight and
Hannah Cantwell seven. Stein posted an efficient .438 attack percentage.
Nia Howard distributed 24 assists.
The Rams were tough on the defensive side of the net as well with nine team blocks. Olmstead and Stein accounted for five and four blocks, respectively.
Senior
Ella Becker scooped 18 digs, climbing past Dana Serafini (2001-04) to No. 4 on Cornell's career list with 1,695.
Sully Downey (12), Cantwell (11) and
Kensie Staats (11) also registered double-digit digs against the Duhawks.
The Rams recorded 38 kills over the final three sets. Loras managed 37 kills the entire match.
