MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's volleyball team drew another tough early-season home assignment in No. 13 nationally-ranked UW-Platteville Friday night at the Small Athletic and Wellness Center.
UW-Platteville, an NCAA Sweet 16 squad a year ago, hit .277 and held a decisive advantage from the service line to sweep Cornell by scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-14.
The Rams, who are receiving votes in the national poll, dipped to 3-2 on the season. UW-Platteville improved to 4-1.
Sophomore
Ally Olmstead had a strong .500 hitting night and led the Rams with eight kills on 14 swings. First-years
Hannah Cantwell and
Ashlin Nottestad contributed seven kills apiece.
Freshman
Selia Stein delivered five block assists and
Ella Becker scooped a match-high 17 digs for the Rams.
Nia Howard handed out 17 assists.
The Pioneers fired 10 ace serves on the night and surrendered none. Cornell committed nine service errors.
UW-Platteville all-American Kierney McDonald posted 13 kills on .684 hitting.
