Rams battled Dutch and Mustangs at Central Invite

PELLA, IA - This weekend, the Cornell women's tennis team traveled to Pella, Iowa, to compete in the Central Invite against the Central College Dutch, and the Morningside University Mustangs. The Rams (3-0), captured 7 wins throughout the day.

The Rams started the morning with doubles, with the pairs of junior Mac Graves and sophomore Michaela Clark, and junior Tansy Graves and freshman Annika Dox, claiming two doubles victories over the Dutch. 

In singles, the Rams found more success, finding five wins over eight flights of singles. Senior Audrey Small found a 6-3, 6-0 win in Flight A, freshman Meredith Maxwell pulled out a tight 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 victory in flight D, and senior Ashley Drake closed out a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win in flight F. Sophomore Jenna Benkufsky finished the day with two singles wins, both in third set tiebreakers, with a 6-0, 6-7 (5), 10-7 over Central, and a 6-2, 1-6, 10-8 over Morningside.

Coming up - The Rams will open conference play this weekend, at the Cornell tennis courts, against Ripon College in the morning and Lawrence University in the afternoon. First serve is set for 9:00AM.
