MOUNT VERNON –
Eva Plathe netted bookend goals Sunday as Cornell's women's soccer team celebrated a 4-0 victory over Minnesota Morris on Senior Day.

Plathe gave the Rams (2-1) early momentum with an unassisted score only 3:31 into the contest. It turned out that would be all the support Cornell's defense would need in posting its first shutout since late October a year ago.

Cornell clung to the 1-0 lead deep into the second half, when the Rams broke it open with a flurry of three goals during a five-minute span.

First-year
Mia Belitz stretched the margin to 2-0 with an assisted tally from
Macky Larkin at the 74-minute mark. Less than two minutes later, freshman
Gracie Lambrecht knocked in her first collegiate goal.

Plathe capped the day with an assisted goal from Belitz with 10:21 remaining in regulation. It was Plathe's team-high fourth goal of the season.

Senior goalkeeper
Sabrina Ibanez saved five shots in a complete-game effort. She was honored with senior teammates
Gwen Westervelt,
Krystin Kamrath and
Emily Howard following the match.

The Rams outshot the Cougars (1-3-1) by a 20-12 margin. Larkin led the attack with six shot attempts, followed by Plathe with five.

Coming up – The Rams are on the road Tuesday to face Simpson at 7 p.m. in Indianola.
