GALESBURG, Ill. – Cornell's volleyball team returned home from a 2-0 opening Midwest Conference road trip in short time Saturday afternoon after a 58-minute sweep over Knox by scores of 25-11, 25-13, 25-13 at Memorial Gym.
The Rams (6-7 overall, 2-0 MWC) reeled off their fourth straight win, which included a 3-1 victory at Illinois College Friday night.
Junior
Mia Tubbs reached a career milestone with her 500th kill. She tallied six against the Prairie Fire (3-14 overall, 0-2 MWC).
Senior setter
Nia Howard jumped to No. 4 on Cornell's all-time list for aces with 192. She fired two of the team's 11 aces on Saturday, one day after surpassing 1,000 assists for her career.
Kensie Staats led the Rams with four aces and 14 digs.
Grace Tverberg and Howard combined for 28 assists on a day Cornell hit .320.
Ally Olmstead had a team-high seven kills, while
Hannah Cantwell and
Ashlin Nottestad chipped in six apiece.
Cornell totaled 36 kills to Knox's 10. The Prairie Fire finished with a minus-.118 attack percentage.
