CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - The Cornell men's tennis team traveled to nearby rival Coe College for a pair of duals against the host Kohawks and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday. The Rams fell in a Bremner Cup matchup to Coe 7-0, and dropped a 6-1 decision to the Eagles.
Cornell (4-2) surrendered the doubles point for the first time this season in both meets. The Rams battled tough falling 6-4, 6-2, and 6-3 to the Kohawks to open the morning. Coe won all six singles flights in straight sets.
Against the Eagles, the Rams stayed strong on the doubles court, falling 6-3 and 6-4 at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Freshman
Henry Lambley provided the lone victory for the Rams, claiming a tight super tiebreak win 6-2, 6-7, 11-9 over Alex Aranda.
UW-La Crosse won the remaining five singles matches in straight sets.
Coming up - The Rams return home to host a triangular with Simpson College and Millikin University on Saturday February 14th. First serve is set for 9am against Simpson.
