ORLANDO, FL – With his win in doubles this afternoon, senior
Zachary Ong, became the eighth men's tennis player in program history to reach 100 career wins. The Rams took down Alma College on Sunday afternoon in their Florida trip opener at the USTA National Campus.
Ong (101) moves into seventh all time on the program career wins list, and joins Shoma Kishimoto (142), Hayden Dzurisin (141), Alex Hadler-Strumlauf (122), Tucker Barnes (118), Garrett Russikoff (116), Austin Reed (109), and Thomas Weiss (100) as players to reach the milestone.
Teaming with
Sam Cumicek, Ong reached the milestone with a 6-0 triumph at No. 3 doubles this afternoon. The Rams secured the doubles point after No. 2 tandem
Jack Saunders and
Henry Lambley earned a 6-3 victory of their own.
Cornell did enough in singles to earn the team win after straight set wins by Saunders at No. 2, Ong at No. 4 and
Drew Campbell at No. 5.
Coming up: Cornell returns to the courts on Sunday for a double header against Piedmont University and Illinois Valley Community College.
