LA CROSSE, Wis. – Cornell's Ava Claussen-Tubbs put a wrap on an exceptional senior season and career Friday afternoon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Veteran's Memorial Field.
 
Claussen-Tubbs finished 11th out of 22 competitors in the women's 800-meter round of prelims to earn Second Team All-America honors. She placed fifth in her heat with a time of 2:10.44.
 
The top two times in each of the three heats, plus the next three best marks, advanced to Saturday's finals. Connecticut College's Alexa Estes posted the fastest qualifying time in 2:08.37.
 
Claussen-Tubbs entered her first NCAA Outdoor Championships race with a school-record time of 2:10.12, established eight days ago.   
 
Claussen-Tubbs left her mark as the most decorated women's 800 runner in Cornell's history. The 14-time Midwest Conference champion also claimed Second Team All-America status in the indoor 800 in March, placing 16th.
 
Cornell's 2026 Sportswoman of the Year collected seven career MWC titles in the 800. She is the program's only all-American at that distance.
