MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's track & field programs have been recognized with individual and team academic accolades by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2026 indoor and outdoor seasons.
 
Coach Jerry Monner's Rams claimed five USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes with seniors Hailey Carolan (biochemistry and molecular biology), Ava Claussen-Tubbs (marketing, applied statistics), Isaac vanWestrienen (kinesiology) and juniors Chase Staker (engineering) and Hadley Beaty (engineering).
 
Carolan earned the distinction for the fourth year in a row. VanWestrienen picked up his third such award, and Claussen-Tubbs her second.  
 
To qualify for the individual award, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and met one of the following athletic standards: 1.) Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship; 2.) Finished the regular season ranked in the national top 50 in an individual event or be ranked in the national top 35 in a relay event.
 
VanWestrienen claimed four all-America awards during a historic 2026 campaign, stamped with a national championship in the men's outdoor 10000-meter run. He placed second in the outdoor 5000 and also secured all-America indoor medals in the 3000 (fifth) and 5000 (seventh).
 
Beaty ranked 39th in the men's indoor 200. Staker was among the top 50 in the men's outdoor 400.
 
Claussen-Tubbs garnered Second Team All-America honors in the women's 800 for both indoors (16th) and outdoors (12th).
 
Carolan finished among the nation's top 50 in the women's high jump for both indoors (24th) and outdoors (42nd).
 
Additionally, Cornell's men and women were both recognized as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. The women earned the distinction for the 12th time in 13 years, compiling a 3.44 GPA. The men's team was honored for the third straight year with a 3.17 GPA.
 
To be eligible, a team must have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.10.
