MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's volleyball program has been recognized for academic excellence by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for the 14th consecutive season, the longest such streak in the Midwest Conference.
 
The Rams earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 academic year, gaining the distinction for the 21st time in head coach Jeff Meeker's 24 seasons at the helm.
 
Cornell's team accumulated a 3.74 grade point average.
 
The Rams were also named to the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, representing teams in the top 20 percent of GPAs nationally by division.
 
A record 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball teams received the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award by maintaining a year-long grade point average of at least 3.30.   
 
"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams honored again this season," AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon said. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."
 
The 2025 Rams dominated once again on the court, claiming their 13th consecutive MWC regular-season championship and qualifying for the NCAA Division III Tournament for the fifth year in a row. The team finished 19-11 overall.
