Trent Schneider

Trent Schneider, a two-time Midwest Conference Coach of the Year, has led Cornell's men's and women's tennis programs to 140 dual wins through five seasons at the helm.

The Rams have accumulated 27 all-conference awards under Schneider, who guided the 2025-26 women's team to a record-breaking 24-4 season and No. 55 final national ranking. Cornell swept MWC Coach of the Year (Schneider), Player of the Year (Michaela Clark) and Newcomer of the Year (Clark) honors in 2025-26, while crowning the MWC champion at No. 3 doubles.

Schneider's men's program has qualified for the MWC Team Tournament five consecutive seasons (2022-26). The Rams fielded the 2023 MWC men's champion at No. 1 doubles (Alexander Hadler-Strumlauf/Federico Polidori). The 2023-24 men's team tied a school record for dual wins in a season with 17.

A Coralville, Iowa native and 2018 Luther College graduate, Schneider came to the Hilltop after two seasons as assistant men’s tennis coach at Coe.

Schneider helped direct Coe’s men’s team to a 22-7 dual mark over two seasons. In 2020-21, the Kohawks finished 14-5, landing the American Rivers Conference Most Valuable Player and five all-conference honorees. Coe claimed 16 ITA Scholar-Athletes during Schneider’s stay in Cedar Rapids.

Schneider compiled 104 victories during his playing career at Luther and ranks No. 8 on the program’s all-time list for doubles winning percentage. The 2015 Iowa Conference doubles champion, Schneider earned all-IIAC accolades three years each in singles and doubles.

Schneider finished 13th in the final ITA Central Region doubles rankings in 2016-17 for the Norse. He ranked 15th in the region for doubles in 2015-16.

A four-year member on Luther’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Schneider graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He earned a master’s in sport and recreation management from the University of Iowa in 2020.

Schneider was a key member of three state team championships at Iowa City West High School, which fashioned an impressive 73-1 dual record over four years. A two-time all-conference performer, Schneider placed third at state doubles in 2014 and fifth in 2013.

Schneider was voted Iowa City West’s Most Improved Player two years. He was selected the USTA Iowa Tennis Association Male Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014.

Schneider worked in the University of Iowa Athletics Department with the Trademark Licensing Program & Hall of Fame from Aug. 2019-July 2021. He was assistant director of the Old Capitol Tennis Championships in 2019.
