Jerry Frawley

Frawley, a two-time Midwest Conference Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year (2024, 2022), is in his sixth season as head coach of Cornell’s men’s and women’s cross country programs, following two seasons as an assistant.
 
Since Frawley's arrival in Fall 2019, Cornell's cross country teams have produced 45 all-MWC performers and five MWC individual champions. The Rams swept both individual titles at the 2025 MWC Championships with Isaac vanWestrienen and Lidia Dahlman. Frawley directed the men's squad to MWC team championships in 2024 and 2022.

VanWestrienen, a two-time MWC champion, claimed Cornell's highest all-America award in men's cross country with a third-place effort at the 2025 NCAA Championships. Aaron Davidson won back-to-back individual MWC titles in 2021-22, becoming the program's first MWC men's champion since 1990.

Since 2023, Cornell's men and women have combined for 25 all-conference performances and seven all-region awards. 
 
Frawley, a native of Monticello, Iowa, has been an assistant coach for Cornell's track & field teams since August 2019, working with the distance runners. On the track, Frawley has coached 41 MWC champions and 86 all-MWC performances in the distance events.

Cornell's men captured the 2025 MWC indoor team title, marking the program's first such championship since 1989. VanWestrienen left his mark as an eight-time all-American on the track, highlighted by a national title in the 10000 at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships.  
 
Frawley’s distance runners were a key part of the men’s outdoor distance medley relay, which won the Drake Relays title in the Iowa College Division in 2023.
 
An all-American distance runner at Wartburg College (2013-17), Frawley enjoyed success as a cross country and track & field graduate assistant (2017-19) at NAIA’s Grand View University, helping the Vikings set 14 school records on the track in only two seasons. Frawley coached six track & field all-Americans in 2019. The men’s track & field program won Heart of America Athletic Conference outdoor team championships in 2018 and 2019.
 
While competing at Wartburg, Frawley was a two-time NCAA qualifier in cross country. The Knights placed 21st at nationals Frawley’s senior season.
 
On the track, Frawley gained all-America honors in the indoor distance medley relay (fourth place in 2016). He was a two-time Iowa Conference champion in the distance medley and also earned all-conference accolades in the mile and 3000m steeplechase. Frawley was part of four IIAC track & field team championships during his time in Waverly.
 
Frawley received a bachelor’s degree in fitness management with minors in business and leadership from Wartburg in 2017. He earned a master’s in sport management from Grand View in 2019.
 
An accomplished runner at Monticello High School, Frawley helped guide the Panthers to three Iowa state team championships (cross country – 2011, 2012; track & field – 2013). He placed in the top 10 at the state cross country meet his senior season. Frawley won a state track championship in the 4x800 relay and took runner-up in the 1600 and 3200 races.
