Jones, a native of Cedar Rapids, begins her first season as an assistant on Cornell's women's basketball staff.

Jones is a 2008 graduate of Coe College, where she was a two-year basketball starter. She was a member of the Kohawks' 20-8 team in 2007-08 that set a school record for wins in a season and reached the championship game of the Iowa Conference Tournament. Jones earned a bachelor's degree from Coe in K-12 physical education.

Jones was a graduate assistant softball coach at Iowa Lakes (Estherville) Community College in 2008-09. She then moved on to North Cedar (Stanwood) High School, where she taught and was assistant girls' basketball coach in 2009-10.

Jones was a standout two-sport athlete at Iowa Lakes Community College from 2003-05. On the softball diamond, she was a two-time all-American outfielder and still holds numerous school records. Jones was a two-time all-region selection in basketball at Iowa Lakes. She went on to play softball at NCAA Division I South Dakota State University in 2006.

Jones enjoyed a distinguished athletic career at Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School, graduating there in 2003. She was a three-year starter in basketball, receiving all-conference accolades and helping lead the J-Hawks to two appearances in the regional finals. Jones was a five-year softball starter, earning all-state honors two seasons. She was a member of three state tournament softball teams at Jefferson.
