Cody Durbin

Durbin, a former All-Big 12 Conference athlete at Iowa State University, joined Cornell’s track & field staff in September 2026. He coaches the sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers.
 
Durbin was assistant track & field coach at the University of Cumberlands during a banner-filled run from 2023-26, helping lead the Patriots to three NAIA national team championships (2024 men’s indoor and outdoor; 2025 women’s indoor). He coached eight all-Americans during his time in Williamsburg, Ky., where he also served as an adjunct professor at the university.
 
Durbin graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in physics and a minor in military studies from Iowa State in 2020. A standout high jumper for the Cyclones, Durbin earned all-Big 12 honors four times and was a member of the 2020 men’s indoor Big 12 championship team. Durbin posted a personal-best high jump of 6 feet, 10.25 inches.
 
Durbin earned a master’s in kinesiology and sports performance from the University of Northern Iowa in 2023. He’s pursuing a PhD in leadership with an emphasis in health science at Cumberlands.
 
Durbin was a graduate assistant/volunteer track & field coach at Northern Iowa from 2021-23.
 
Durbin has served in the Iowa Army National Guard since 2020.
