Zaltron, a former player and coach at the professional level, joins the Cornell men's soccer staff for his first season in 2012.
"I thank Cornell College for allowing me to fulfill a dream," said Zaltron, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina. "It's always been a dream for me to work at a college. I'm grateful that (head coach) Andres (Leza) has taken a chance on me."
Zaltron carries six years of professional playing experience in Argentina and the U.S. He has coached club soccer the past 12 years in the U.S., while working summer camps at various NCAA Division I schools across the country.
Zaltron has worked with over 100 players that have continued their soccer careers at Division I, 2 or 3 institutions. His list of former players include seven All-Americans, two Herman Trophy (equivalent to the Heisman Trophy) semifinalists and one Herman Trophy finalist. Zaltron trained 11 players that went on to play in the MLS and/or Europe.
Zaltron has served as Director of Coaching for the Marion (Iowa) Soccer Club since June 2012. He also was director of the Heartland Youth Soccer Club in Cedar Rapids for a year. Zaltron spent five years as director and coach for club teams in Dallas, Texas. He worked with the Texas Football Club from 2009-11 with over 3,000 players in the program. During his time in Texas, Zaltron helped the Andromeda Soccer Club reach the No. 3 "Best Boys Soccer Club in the Country."
He currently holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) "B" License and an Argentinian Federation Pro License (equivalent to USSF "A").
Zaltron resides in Marion with his wife, Alejandra, and young daughter, Emily.
