Valenza, a native of Columbia, Md., enters his first season on Andy Bonasera’s men’s lacrosse coaching staff in 2015-16.

Valenza played defender at NCAA Division III Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Susquehanna in 2014 in communications with an emphasis in public relations.

Valenza spent the following year in Fort Benning, Ga., graduating from the Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course (IBOLC) as second lieutenant in February 2015. He currently serves as a platoon leader in the Army National Guard.

Valenza was a four-year letterwinner and all-county defenseman his senior season at Long Reach (Md.) High School. He was named team captain his junior and senior years. Valenza earned 16 total varsity letters at Long Reach, competing in lacrosse, hockey, wrestling, football and soccer. In hockey, he led the state of Maryland for most shutouts in a season by a goalie.

Valenza was head coach of the Long Reach junior varsity lacrosse team during the 2015 spring season.
