CEDAR RAPIDS – Cornell's men's soccer team fell to rival Coe College 1-0 Saturday night. With the win, Coe now leads the 2019-20 Bremner Cup All-Sports Series, 3-2.
The Rams (2-8-3 overall, 0-2-2 MWC) were unable to find a breakthrough and Coe capitalized at the 74:09 mark with a goal. Tom Gallagher (JR/Cincinnati, Ohio) made the initial save but a Coe player scored off the rebound.
Cornell outshot Coe (5-8 overall) 17-8 in the game. Daniel Edwards (SO/Lake Worth, Fla.) led the Rams with five shots. Facundo Benavidez (SR/Buenos Aires, Argentina) attempted three shots. Sam Duff (JR/Fort Collins, Colo.), Tyler Davis (JR/St. Andrews, Jamaica) and Galen Westervelt (FR/Lopez Island, Wash.) had two shots each. Blake Soto (FR/Oak Park, Ill.), Jari Gottgens (FR/Nootdorp, Netherlands), and Andrew Lopez (FR/Aurora, Colo.) had one shot apiece.
The Rams also held a 6-2 advantage for corner kicks.
Gallagher started the game in net for the Rams. He played all 90 minutes and made two saves.
