MOUNT VERNON – The Cornell women's soccer team fell in their home opener to Nebraska Wesleyan by the score of 5-0 Sunday afternoon.
The Rams (0-2) played the visiting team even in the early going. The Prairie Wolves found the breakthrough at the 25-minute mark of the first half. Nebraska Wesleyan (2-0) scored twice more in the first half, and scored its final two goals in the last 20 minutes of the game.
The Rams were outshot by the Prairie Wolves 18-9. Sydney Hancox (FR/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) attempted four shots and Ashley Quesada (SR/Blaine, Wash.) had three, hitting the crossbar on one of her shots. Georgia James (SO/Rock City, Ill.) and Avery Wise attempted the other two shots for Cornell.
Starting goalkeeper Elise Thomason-Larsen (SO/Superior, Colo.) recorded three saves in her 65 minutes of action. Nicole Trenholm (SO/Plainfield, Ill.) recorded three saves while finishing the game in net.
